Data Roaming
Roaming happens when youíre outside Canada, off the Fido network, and connected to a wireless carrier partner*.
* Although roaming generally occurs outside Canada, roaming can also occur in some areas of Canada (such as Dryden, Ontario or the North West Territories) where wireless services are provided by Canadian roaming partners.
If you place a call while outside of Canada, off the Fido network, youíll be using a network of a roaming partner that has a roaming agreement with Fido. In that case, you'll be charged per-minute voice roaming rates specific to that country/region. Different roaming rates apply to text messages, picture and video messages and data usage (e-mail, instant messages and mobile browsing).
Long Distance
Long distance applies to any call placed to a number outside the Local Calling Area you are currently in. While travelling within Canada, if you place a call to a number that is local to your physical location, then it will be local call - calls placed to numbers that are not local to your location will incur long distance charges.
Long distance calls can be placed to Canadian, U.S. and international numbers.
If you receive incoming a calls while you are travelling outside your Fido Incoming Local Calling Area within Canada, you will be charged long distance. If you receive a call outside of Canada, you’ll be charged the roaming rate for the country you’re visiting.
Tip! Long distance charges do not apply when you use your Fido outside your Local Calling Area when you make calls to numbers within the Local Calling Area you are visiting. For example, If your local calling area is 514 and you’re visiting the 416 local calling area, you can call other 416 numbers without being charged long distance. There are no charges for data usage while outside your local calling area in Canada while you’re on the Fido network.
