Fido PulseTM plan customers can now enjoy the freedom of using data in those moments they need it most. With 5 Extra Hours of Data, you get 1 EXTRA hour of data, 5 times per billing cycle. Each 1 extra hour of data can be used once every 24 hours.

Who is eligible for 5 Extra Hours of Data?

All Fido Pulse plan customers using an Android (version 4.2 and later) or iOS (iOS8.2 and later) device are eligible for 5 Extra Hours of Data. To check if you are on a Fido Pulse plan, text PULSE to 222.

 

How can I use 5 Extra Hours of Data?

 

How do I get access to 5 Extra Hours of Data?

You can only access 5 Extra Hours of Data through the Fido My Account app. Make sure that you are using the latest version of the app – you can get it through Google Play or the Apple store (Android 4.2 and later and iOS 8.2 and later required).

How do I activate 5 Extra Hours of Data?

It’s easy! From the Fido My Account app, click on the Data Bytes banner and it will bring you to the Data Bytes page (5 Extra Hours of Data is referred to as “Data Bytes” in the Fido app). Simply shake your phone for 3 seconds to unlock your 1 EXTRA hour of data (referred to as a “Data Bytes session” in the Fido app). There’s also a button that you can tap to start the 1 extra hour of data instead. Keep in mind that once you have started your 1 extra hour of data, it cannot be stopped, paused or resumed.

 

How can I get the most out of 5 Extra Hours of Data?

 

5 Extra Hours of Data is not available when:

  • There is no connection to the Fido Network.
  • You are roaming outside Canada.
  • You are in Extended Coverage areas.
  • You are on Wi-Fi.
  • You’ve already used 1 extra hour of data within the last 24 hours.
  • You’ve used all 5 extra hours of data in your current billing cycle.

How to get the most out of your 1 extra hour of data:

  • You must be connected to and be on the Fido Network (excluding Extended Coverage areas).
  • You must have available extra hours of data left in your current billing cycle.
  • Your last 1 extra hour of data session must have occurred at least 24 hours before your current session.
  • You must not be on Wi-Fi.

 

Why was my 1 extra hour of data interrupted?

 

What happens if I start 1 extra hour of data on the Fido network, then start to roam or enter an Extended Coverage area?

5 Extra Hours of Data is not available when you are roaming or in an Extended Coverage area. If you start a 1 extra hour of data and then move into roaming or an Extended Coverage area, we’ll immediately send you a text message letting you know that 5 Extra Hours of Data is no longer accessible. If you return to the Fido network and if your 1 extra hour of data is still active (example: you have 30 minutes remaining), you will be able to use the remaining time from your 1 extra hour of data. You will only receive one text message the first time you leave the Fido network in that one hour session. Keep in mind that once you have started a 1 extra hour of data, it cannot be stopped, paused or resumed.

What happens if I start a 1 extra hour of data on the Fido network, then connect to Wi-Fi?

5 Extra Hours of Data is not available when you are on Wi-Fi. If you start a 1 extra hour of data and then move to a Wi-Fi zone, 5 Extra Hours of Data will no longer be accessible. If you move back to the Fido network and if your 1 extra hour of data is still active (example: you have 30 minutes remaining), you will be able to use the remaining time from your 1 extra hour of data. Keep in mind that once you have started a 1 extra hour of data, it cannot be stopped, paused or resumed.

What happens if I start a 1 extra hour of data and then lose connectivity?

You will need connection to the Fido Network to use 5 Extra Hours of Data. If you start a 1 extra hour of data and then lose connectivity, you will not be able to use any of Fido’s services; that includes 5 Extra Hours of Data. If you reconnect to the Fido network and if your 1 extra hour of data is still active (example: 30 minutes remain) you will be able to use the remaining time from your 1 extra hour of data. Keep in mind that once you have started a 1 extra hour of data, it cannot be stopped, paused or resumed.

How many extra hours of data are available per billing cycle?

You have 5 extra hours of data available per billing cycle. You can only use 1 extra hour of data every 24 hours.

How can I check how many 1 extra hour of data I have used?

To view your 5 Extra Hours of Data history, you must access the Fido My Account App and click on the ‟More” section from the bottom menu. Next, click on the ‟My Data Bytes History” banner. On this page you will be able to check how many 1 extra hour of data you have used, when you have used them as well as how much data has been used. For an additional view of data usage you can also refer to your monthly invoice.

How do 5 Extra Hours of Data affect the data included in my Fido Pulse plan?

With 5 Extra Hours of Data, you get the best of both worlds! The data included in your Fido Pulse plan is completely separate from the data used during your 1 extra hour of data. This means that you can enjoy the data included in your plan AND enjoy your 5 extra hours of data.

How can I check how much data I’ve used during a 1 extra hour of data?

During your active 1 extra hour of data, you can verify your data usage by accessing the Fido MyAccount app, and then clicking on the Data Bytes banner. This will bring you to the page where you can view your 1 extra hour of data usage.

Can I use 5 Extra Hours of Data when tethering?

Yes, you can use 5 Extra Hours of Data when tethering but maximum speeds will be reduced to 3.8 Mbps for both download and upload.

Are the 5 extra hours of data transferable?

Your 5 extra hours of data cannot be shared or transferred to anyone else.

Once my 5 extra hours of data are used, can I purchase additional ones?

5 Extra Hours of Data are not available for purchase. Once your 5 extra hours of data are used, you’ll have to wait until your next billing cycle to enjoy your new sessions. If you require more data, you can always purchase Data Top-Ups. Visit fido.ca/datatop-ups for more details.

What if I accidentally start a 1 extra hour of data, can I get it back?

Before a 1 extra hour of data starts (upon shaking your phone), you will have a 5-second countdown period in which you will have the possibility to cancel your 1 extra hour of data. If you choose the ‟TAP TO START” banner to initiate your 1 extra hour of data, you will be asked to confirm with a pop-up message. Please note that once a 1 extra hour of data has been initiated, it cannot be paused, stopped or resumed
