Visual Voicemail

How do I set-up my visual voicemail using my iPhone?

First we suggest that you turn your device off and power it up again to ensure your device receives your voicemail retrieval number. Once this is done, Visual voicemail can be set-up directly from the device or through the standard voice messaging interface.

Set up Visual Voicemail and create a password via device interface:

  • Tap Voicemail. The first time you tap Voicemail, iPhone prompts you to create a voicemail password and record your voicemail greeting. Use any 4-10 digit password that only you will know.
  • Tap Save.
  • Re-enter password and tap Save again.

Record a new voicemail greeting:

  • Tap Voicemail and tap Greeting. Then tap Custom.
  • Tap Record and say your greeting.
  • When you finish, tap Stop. To listen to your greeting, tap Play.
  • When you’re satisfied, tap Save.

Set iPhone to play a default voicemail greeting:

  • Tap Voicemail and tap Greeting. Then tap Default. When someone calls, they’ll hear a standard message that includes your phone number.

Set up Visual Voicemail through standard Voice Messaging Interface

  • From Home screen tap Phone.
  • Tap Keypad.
  • Tap and hold the 1 key.
  • Follow prompts to set up password and greeting.

Checking Voicemail:

The Voicemail screen shows your voicemail messages. Unheard messages have a blue dot next to them.

How many messages can I receive?

You may receive up to 35, 5 minute voice messages.

How long can I save my messages?

Messages can be saved for up to 10 days.

Can I retrieve deleted messages?

Yes, with the visual voicemail you can retrieve deleted messages by doing the following:

  • Tap Deleted Messages (at the end of your voicemail messages).
  • Tap a message.
  • Tap Undelete.
  • After 10 days your message will be deleted permanently.

Can I return a call after listening to a message?

Yes, you may by tapping a message then tapping Call Back (appeler). This will place a voice call to the number that left you the message. You cannot however, return a voicemail to the caller, you must phone the caller.

How do I retrieve or check for voice messages?

  • Tap Phone.
  • Tap Voicemail.
  • Tap on any message.
    (New messages are indicated with a red circle with number of new messages)

When I hold down "1" on my iPhone, the call prompts in the voicemail system have changed. What are the changes?

Beginning March 12, the prompts within your voice messaging system are changing. There is NO change to your Visual Voicemail client on your device. However, if you ever call into your voice messaging system, by pressing and holding "1" on your phone, you may notice some changes. Please see below for details:

Can I control the way I listen to a message?

You may Tap to pause a message while listening and tap again to resume playback. You may also skip to any point in a message by dragging the playhead on the scrubber bar.

Will I be charged for incoming visual voicemail messages?

There is no charge for incoming visual voicemail while in Canada, while roaming outside Canada visual voicemail messages will be considered as data transmissions and will be billed according to regular roaming rates or the applicable rate from your roaming bundle.

Can I stop incoming visual voicemail while roaming?

Yes. This is done by turning data roaming to off. This will stop both visual voicemail and data transmissions to your device while you are roaming outside Canada. To do this:

  • Tap Settings
  • General
  • Network
  • Data roaming
  • Off

Can I forward a voicemail to my email?

No, voicemail cannot be forwarded to another user or to an email address.

My device is set to French but my VVM notifications are in English, how do I correct this?

Tap settings, general, international, language, region – change to Canada. It is important that the language be set to French AND the region be set to Canada for all items to display in French.

Will my visual voicemail work if the data transmission option has been blocked on my account?

Visual Voicemail works in two ways:

  • You can play your messages right from your phone by tapping the message you want to listen to. If the data transmission option has been blocked on your account, you will not receive the messages on your device.
  • You can also listen to your messages by pressing and holding “1” at all times.

How do I reset my voicemail password?

On the main screen Tap settings, phone, Change voicemail password and enter your new password.
