Text to Home Phone
What is Text to Home Phone?
Text to home phone is a service that lets you send a text message to any landline in Canada or the U.S. When the recipient’s phone rings, your text message is converted and heard as a voice message. The person is then given the option to reply via a 30 second voice message of their own.

How do I send a message?
Follow the same procedure as if you were sending a regular text message. Once you enter the recipient's 10-digit phone number, the system will recognize it as a landline. If you wrote your message in English, press “E” when prompted (“F” for French messages). Your message will then be sent.

Can I use acronyms and emoticons in my messages?
Absolutely. Our system will translate them into words your recipient understands. For instance, when you text "B4" the voice will say "before". Texting ":-)>" will be heard as "happy."

How do I know if my message got through?
If your message was delivered successfully, you'll receive a confirmation text message. If there was a problem, you'll receive a text message stating the reason it couldn't be sent (invalid number, fax number, busy line, no answer, etc.).
If your message has gone to someone’s voice mail, you’ll receive a text message telling you so. Likewise if your recipient doesn’t answer or if the line is busy. The system will make three call attempts before abandoning the message.
Regular charges apply for sending a text message.

Can people reply to my messages from their home phone?
Certainly. After listening to your message, they have the option of recording a 30second reply. You’ll then receive a confirmation text message with a 1 800 number to call to hear their message. The system stores up to 10 unheard reply messages for five days.
Note: current technology does not allow recipients to reply using text messaging from their home phones.
