Call Forwarding

What is "Unconditional" Call Forwarding?

Unconditional call forwarding redirects all of your incoming calls to the number you’ve chosen. No calls will be received on your phone. Unconditional Call forwarding can be done on a per-call basis or purchased as a monthly service with a set number of Call Forwarding minutes. For details on the Call Forwarding monthly add-on click here.

Can I control the number of rings before a call gets redirected to voicemail? (As of January 25th 2009)

No, our system doesn’t allow you to configure the number of rings before the call is redirected to voicemail.

What is "Conditional" Call Forwarding? (Until January 25th 2009)

Conditional call forwarding redirects incoming calls in three different ways:

  • Forward if busy – redirects incoming calls to your call forwarded number when you’re on the phone
  • Forward if not answered – redirects incoming calls to your call forwarded number if you don’t answer
  • Forward if out of reach – redirects incoming calls to your call forwarded number if your phone is off or outside the coverage area

Please note that Conditional call forwarding is only available on select phones, and will only work if you do not subscribe to Voice Messaging.

Why am I no longer able to do "Conditional" Call Forwarding? (As of January 25th 2009)

We no longer offer Conditional Call Forwarding. These changes were made to eliminate charges for voicemail deposits while customers roam off the Fido network outside of Canada. Select devices support Conditional Call Forwarding if you do not subscribe to Voice Messaging. Check your wireless phone user guide to confirm if your phone supports Conditional Call Forwarding.

Is "Conditional" Call Forwarding supported on my phone?

Conditional Call Forwarding is supported by select Fido phones. Check your wireless phone user guide to see if your phone supports this option. If you subscribe to Voice Messaging you will be unable to take advantage of Conditional Call Forwarding, even if you see it on your phone Options Menu. You can still use Unconditional Call Forwarding which redirects all of your incoming calls to a number of your choice.

Do I need to call forward my calls while traveling to avoid roaming charges for voicemail deposits?

No, you are not charged roaming fees for voice messages left for you while you are roaming off the Fido network outside of Canada. You do not need to forward your calls while traveling to avoid these charges. You will continue to be charged roaming fees to retrieve and listen to your messages while outside of Canada.

How do I Call Forward my phone?

To forward your calls to a number of your choice press * 21 * then the 10 digit phone number you want to forward your calls to and then press #. To cancel Call Forwarding press #21#.
