Text Messaging (also known as SMS)

Send and receive text messages of up to 160 characters.

How to send a text message from your Fido

1. 1 Go to the Message folder on your phone.
2. 2 Select Text, then New Message.
3. 3 Type your message and press OK.
4. 4 Enter the recipient's phone number, including the area code (or "+" and country code, if sending internationally) and press Send.

You can also send a text message to a landline (non-wireless) phone number. Just type your message and enter the 10-digit phone number as you would with a regular text message. It’s automatically converted into a voice message that the recipient can listen to. An extra 25¢ applies per message sent to a landline number.

How much does it cost?

Picture and Video Messaging (also known as MMS)

Capture those spontaneous moments with friends in a picture or a video and then share it. With Fido, it’s easy to send and receive picture and video message on your phone.

E-mail with Fido MobileMail (available on select phones)

Access your e-mail anytime, anywhere, directly from your Fido. Use Fido MobileMail to read, reply to, forward and delete e-mails just like you would on your PC whether you’re using Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail or fido.ca e-mail.

How to set up Fido MobileMail – for phones with MobileMail preloaded:

1. 1 Locate Fido MobileMail and select your e-mail provider (some providers require you accept the Terms and Conditions).
2. 2 On the login screen, enter the same user ID and password you use to log into your e-mail from your PC.
3. 3 From your inbox, read the headers of your messages and then select the message you want to read.

How to download and install a free copy of MobileMail (if not preloaded on your phone):

1. 1 Check if your phone is compatible.
2. 2 Text the word EMAIL to 4853.
3. 3 You'll receive a text message with a link. Click on the link and select your e-mail provider.
4. 4 After you've downloaded the application you can start e-mailing right away.

Fido Instant Messaging (available on select phones)

Stay connected anytime, anywhere with Fido IM using Windows Live (MSN) Messenger or Yahoo Messenger right on your phone. You’ll feel like you’re chatting on your computer!

How to set up Fido IM – for phones with MobileMail preloaded

1. 1 Go to your MAIN or MESSAGING or GAMES & APPLICATIONS folder.
2. 2 Click on Fido IM.
3. 3 Select either Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo Messenger.
4. 4Sign in. Start sending and receiving IM messages at the pay-per-use rate.

How to download and install a free copy of Fido IM (if not preloaded on your phone)

1. 1 Check if your phone is compatible.
2. 2 Launch your mobile Internet browser. Select Messaging, then Instant Messaging, and follow the steps to download the IM application.
3. 3 Select Pricing
4. 4 Select Continue to see the confirmation page and select Accept.
5. 5 Then, select Download the IM application for free and follow the instructions to install the Fido IM application on your Fido phone.
6. 6 Select the IM icon from your phone’s menu, sign in and start sending and receiving IM messages.
