Buying in-store or at a kiosk

If you bought your phone from a Fido store or kiosk, just insert your old SIM card into your new phone, and it’s ready to use.

Note: If your old SIM card is not compatible with your new phone, you’ll need to get a new SIM card. This new SIM card will be provided to you in-store. Contacts information must be saved on your SIM card to access them in your new phone. Refer to your old phone’s user guide (available on the manufacturer’s website) to learn how to transfer the contents of your current phone to your SIM card.

Buying online

If you buy your phone on Fido.ca, you will receive a new SIM card with your new device. If your current SIM card is not compatible with your new device, you’ll need to update the SIM card associated with your device by logging in to My Account once you receive your new device.

What you’ll need

  • Your old SIM card number
  • Your new SIM card number
  • Your Fido My Account login information

Note: Before you change your SIM card, make sure to save your contacts on your phone, since you won’t be able to access them from your old SIM card once you switch to the new card. Check your phone’s user guide (found on the manufacturer’s website) for information on how to transfer the contents of your current SIM card to your phone.

Update your SIM card

  1. Log in to My Account.
  2. Choose the phone number for which you’re changing the SIM card.
  3. Select Update SIM Card.
  4. Enter your old SIM card number in the required field.
  5. Enter the new SIM card number in the required field.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Double-check your info on the confirmation page and agree to the Terms and Conditions at the bottom of the page.
  8. Select Continue.

You can now insert your SIM card into your phone. Just make sure to turn your device on and off to complete the process.
