Fido Rewards Program Terms and Conditions
Description. The Fido RewardsTM program (“Fido Rewards”) is a program offered by Fido Solutions, operated by Rogers Communications Partnership (“Fido”) that allows participants to accumulate FidoDollarsTM and redeem them toward the purchase of Fido phones (other than smartphones, unless a participant subscribes to a Data option with a commitment period or to prepaid service), laptop internet devices (with a subscription to a Data option with a commitment period), $20 increments of prepaid airtime and the following option services: Name Display, Call Display, Call Forwarding, WhoCalledTM, #AUTO, Expanded Network, Suburban zone, text messaging, international text messaging, picture and video messaging, Additional Minutes (anytime local calls), Fido to Fido Anywhere in Canada, Canada/U.S. Long-Distance, International Long-Distance, U.S. roaming and Happy Hour, under the terms and conditions stipulated herein and in accordance with the laws applicable in the participant's province. Fido Rewards replaces and cancels all rewards programs offered to Fido customers by Fido prior to February 17, 2004.
Eligibility. Participants must be subscribers to Fido Service. Fido Service subscribers with a multiple user account are eligible to participate in Fido Rewards. All Fido employees who have a Fido corporate account and Fido customers who participate in the Ambassador program are not eligible to participate in Fido Rewards.
Participant status. All eligible individuals who activate Fido Service as of February 17, 2004 are automatically registered for Fido Rewards upon activation. All eligible individuals who were not registered for Fido Rewards were automatically registered as of July 9, 2007.
Duration of Fido Rewards, modifications, and termination of participation. Fido Rewards is effective starting February 17, 2004. Fido can, at its discretion, terminate Fido Rewards at any time, subject to ten (10) days' notice. Participants have until the day Fido Rewards is terminated to redeem their accumulated FidoDollars. FidoDollars become null and void on the day Fido Rewards is terminated and cannot be redeemed after that day. Fido can also, at its discretion and without notice, restrict, suspend, modify or otherwise amend Fido Rewards in whole or in part. All modifications will be posted on fido.ca. A Fido customer's participation will be terminated if their Fido Service is cancelled, regardless of whether the cancellation of service was initiated by the participant or by Fido, for whatever reason, or in the case of prepaid service, if the participant's account has been inactive for more than 275 days.
Accumulation of FidoDollars. Fido customers can begin accumulating FidoDollars as soon as they become a participant. Participants accumulate FidoDollars based on the eligible fees and charges, as described below, that they incur for the use of Fido Service, before applicable taxes and after all applicable Fido discounts are applied, including employee discounts, and credits are deducted. The eligible fees and charges are the following: monthly service charges for a monthly plan, prepaid service charges, System Access Fee, paper invoice fee, charges for additional minutes over and above those included in the monthly plan, long-distance, roaming, data transmission charges, 9-1-1 Emergency Access Fee, option service fees, mobile Internet (WAP) fees and Canadian Directory Assistance (4-1-1) charges. FidoDollars cannot be accumulated for the following fees and charges: phone, accessory or smart card purchases, any option services or prepaid airtime obtained by redeeming FidoDollars, service resumption fees, early termination fees, management fees, interest charges, fees for cheques returned due to insufficient funds or other administrative fees.
Availability and validity period of FidoDollars. Accumulated FidoDollars become available for redemption by the participant at the start of the billing cycle that follows the billing cycle when their FidoDollars were awarded. FidoDollars are valid for a period of six (6) years starting the day they become available, unless Fido has terminated Fido Rewards before the end of this period, the participant has terminated their participation in the program, or their participation has been terminated by Fido for whatever reason. As soon as a Fido customer's participation is terminated for whatever reason, their FidoDollars are revoked on the day their participation is terminated and cannot be used.
Awarding and balance of FidoDollars. In total, 5% of the eligible fees on a participant’s invoice will be attributed in FidoDollars. The balance of the FidoDollars corresponds to the total amount of FidoDollars accumulated (available or not) to the nearest cent (with $0.005 rounded upward). For example, if the eligible fees on the invoice amount to $42.70, the 2.135 in FidoDollars will be rounded to 2.14 FidoDollars. The FidoDollars balance will appear on the participant's monthly invoice, but will not appear on the receipt issued for the purchase of Fido prepaid service. All participants, except holders of a multiple users account, can find out their FidoDollars balance by visiting fido.ca or by calling 1 888 481-FIDO (3436) and using Fido's interactive voice response system. Participants who are holders of a multiple users account can find out their FidoDollars balance by calling 1 888 481-FIDO (3436). Only the account holder or any authorized user designated by the account holder can obtain information about the FidoDollars balance in that account.
Redemption of available FidoDollars. Fido Rewards participants can redeem their available FidoDollars on fido.ca/rewards, in certain Fido stores or by calling 1 888 481-FIDO (3436). The FidoDollars available can only be used toward the purchase of Fido phones (other than smartphones, unless a participant subscribes to a Data option with a commitment period or to prepaid service) laptop internet devices (with a subscription to a Data option with a commitment period) or the option services identified at s. 1, in each case, from among those available at the time of FidoDollars redemption, or toward $20 increments of prepaid airtime. Each FidoDollar corresponds to one (1) dollar applicable to the regular price in effect at the time of FidoDollars redemption, including applicable taxes, except for taxes applicable to option services which cannot be paid using FidoDollars. FidoDollars have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash. FidoDollars can only be used in accordance with the present terms and conditions and participants cannot sell, buy, give, transfer or otherwise dispose of their FidoDollars without Fido's prior written consent. Only the account holder or any authorized user designated by the account holder may redeem available FidoDollars or otherwise manage the FidoDollars associated with that account. Fido may validate the identity of any account holder or authorized user before allowing them to redeem any FidoDollars.
Restrictions. A participant cannot redeem their FidoDollars if their Fido account has an overdue balance, their service is suspended or has been terminated or, in the case of prepaid service, their account is inactive. Furthermore, a participant cannot redeem their FidoDollars if Fido has reasonable grounds to believe that the participant has failed to comply with the present terms and conditions or the terms and conditions contained in the Service Agreement governing Fido Service.
Default by participant. If Fido believes that a Fido Rewards participant is using Fido Service, or any of the privileges granted in accordance with Fido Rewards, in an abusive or fraudulent manner, has failed to abide by one or more of the present terms and conditions, or has failed to make all payments due to Fido before the established deadline, Fido can, at its discretion, without notice and without incurring any responsibility, revoke the FidoDollars accumulated in the participant's account or revoke the Fido customer's participation in the Fido Rewards program (including the participation of all users included in the participant's account, if applicable).
Early cancellation fees. Early cancellation fees do not apply to a smartphone or to a laptop internet device purchased with a term commitment under Fido Rewards at a “Without Fido Agreement” price.
Accuracy of information. All information provided to the participant about their FidoDollars balance is considered accurate, unless the participant can prove otherwise by providing proof deemed to be satisfactory by Fido. Any discrepancies must be reported to Fido within thirty (30) days of the date FidoDollars are available.
Limitation of liability. Fido will not be held liable for any tax consequences that may arise from participation in Fido Rewards. It is the participant's sole responsibility to declare all tax benefits and pay all applicable taxes and income taxes.
Consent. By participating in Fido Rewards, the participant agrees to comply with the present terms and conditions and attests to having reached the age of majority in their province of residence (or having obtained the consent of their parent or guardian).
