How to switch equipment

The information below is applicable only if you would like to use your Fido services with a different phone or if you need to update the SIM card linked to your account. If you are looking to buy a brand new phone instead, click here.

How to switch to another phone

Things to Know

  • If your new phone is an unlocked device, you will need to configure it in order to get access to all our services.
  • If you are using an LTE phone or device, you require a Fido LTE SIM card in order to get access to the LTE network.
  • Some phones and devices may require a different SIM card format that the current one.
  • If your new phone or device use the same SIM card format, you do not have to contact us; you may simply switch your SIM card from your old phone to your new phone:
    • If your contacts have not been saved on your SIM card, you will not have access to your contacts anymore; transfer the contents of your current handset phonebook to your SIM card.
  • If your new phone or device uses a different SIM card format, you will need to change your SIM card.
How to change your SIM card

Things to Know

  • Before you proceed, make sure that your contacts have been saved in your phone. Otherwise, you will not have access to your contacts anymore once the change of SIM has been completed.
  • To do so, transfer the contents of your current SIM card to the handset phonebook.
    • Refer to your phone’s user guide to learn how to copy your phone directory.
    • You can then transfer the contents back to your new SIM card, if desired.
  • If you need to use a new SIM card because your handset was lost or stolen, you will have to contact us: dial
    6-1-1, free of charge, from a Fido phone or 1-888-481-3436 from any other phone.
    • If a restriction has been applied on your account, it will be removed when contacting us to activate the new SIM.
  • If you are using an LTE phone or device, you require a Fido LTE SIM card in order to get access to the LTE network.

To change your SIM card

  • Log in to My Account.
  • Click on Change your SIM card under the My Fido Service section.
  • In the dropdown menu, select the Fido number to which you need to update the SIM card.
  • Enter the new SIM card number in the required field.
  • Select Next.
