Thanks to our new Windows Mobile-powered devices and our 3G high-speed experience, you can now e-mail, surf the Internet faster than ever, entertain yourself with Windows Media® Player Mobile, and get some work in too with applications you know.

It's really simple to enjoy Fido’s Windows Mobile. Here’s all you need to do:

How it works

Fido makes setting up your wireless e-mail quick and easy. Just follow these simple steps.

  • Insert the smart card and battery into your Windows Mobile device. Charge it for 20 minutes.
  • Switch on your Windows Mobile device. Make sure you see 3G, EDGE or GPRS on the display, which indicates that you’re receiving a signal from the Fido wireless network.
  • Set up your wireless e-mail service

For a Gmail account

  • Log in to your Gmail account from your PC.
  • Click on Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
  • Click on the Forwarding and POP tab in the orange Mail Settings box.
  • Under POP Download, choose to Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on.
  • Specify whether you want Gmail to keep a copy of messages in the Inbox when you access messages through POP.
  • Click on Save Changes.

Now you can configure your Gmail from your device. Here’s how:

  • On your Windows Mobile device, press Start, then Messaging, and select New E-Mail Account.
  • Enter your e-mail address (i.e., yourname@gmail.com) and press Next. (Make sure the Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet is checked.)
  • Auto Setup will find the settings for gmail.com. Press Next.
  • Enter your name and press Next.
  • Enter your password and press Next. (Check Save password so you don't have to enter it every time you check your e-mail.)
  • Select how often you would like the device to send/receive e-mail and press Finish.

For a Hotmail account

  • On your Windows Mobile device, press Start, then Messaging, and select New E-Mail Account.
  • Enter your e-mail address and press Next. (Make sure the Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet is checked.)
  • Auto Setup will find the settings. Press Next.
  • You’ll be directed to a Windows Live screen. Scroll down and select Sign in to Windows Live.
  • Review Windows Live Terms of Use and Privacy statement. If you agree with these terms, select Accept.
  • Enter your e-mail address and password and press Next. (Check Save password so you don't have to enter it every time you check your e-mail.)
  • Select whether you want to show Windows Live on your home screen and press Next.
  • Select the items you want synced to your device and press Next.
  • Your device will now sync with your inbox (this may take a few moments).

For Yahoo! and other accounts

  • On your Windows Mobile device, press Start, then Messaging, and select New E-Mail Account.
  • Enter your e-mail address and press Next. (Make sure the Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet is checked.)
  • Auto Setup will find the settings. Press Next.
  • Enter your name and press Next.
  • Enter your password and press Next. (Check Save password so you don't have to enter it every time you check your e-mail.)
  • Select how often you would like the device to send/receive e-mail and select Finish.
