Change a WiFi network name or password

You can easily update your WiFi network name and password by following these steps.

  1. Connect to your Fido modem using an Ethernet cable, or by using a device already connected to your home WiFi.
  2. Open a web browser and enter https://192.168.0.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
    • Your browser might display a warning about the SSL certificate. To bypass the message:
      • Chrome: Select Advanced, then select Proceed to 192.168.0.1 (unsafe).
      • Edge: Select Advanced, then select Proceed to 192.168.0.1 (unsafe).
      • Firefox: Select Advanced, then select Accept the Risk and Continue.
      • Safari: Select Show details, then select visit this website.
  3. Enter the following default settings to access your modem’s settings and select Login.
  4. From the main menu of your modem’s settings, select Wireless from the top navigation.

    To change your WiFi network name(s):

    1. Select the Basic Settings tab.
    2. In the 2.4G tab, enter a new network name into the Network Name (SSID) field, which can be found on the right side of the screen.
    3. Select Save Changes.
      • Your modem will automatically update the 5G network with your new network name. However if you’ve disabled band steering in your modem settings you’ll need to enter a new network name in the 5G tab as well.

    To change your WiFi password(s):

    1. Select the Basic Settings tab.
    2. In the 2.4G tab, enter a new password into the Password field, which can be found on the right side of the screen.
    3. Select Save Changes.
      • Your modem will automatically update the 5G network with your new password. However if you’ve disabled band steering in your modem settings you’ll need to enter a new password in the 5G tab as well.
