Fido's cable burial process
If an existing buried line to your home is the cause of your service issues or if you’re in a home that did not have prior Fido services, a technician may run a temporary line to provide you with stable service until your permanent line is in place. They will also create an order to have your line buried.
To bury your cable line properly and safely, as we will comply with all legal requirements, and:
• Obtain proper permits from local authorities, where applicable
• Apply for utility locates, where necessary,
• Assign a burial contractor to do the work
Burials are performed from April-November during the warmer months when the ground is defrosted. This is to avoid the temporary line becoming exposed due to frost heaving and being damaged again.
What happens to my burial order once the ground freezes?
Your burial order remains on your account until we are we able to complete it. When the weather warms up in the spring and our burial season reopens, we will prioritize orders as follows.
How can I check the status of my burial order?
You can check on the status of your burial request at any time through our Virtual Assistant, AskJack. Note: It can take at least 72 hours from the technician visit for the request to show up on this portal. If you can’t find your burial status information after 72 hours, please contact our Technical Support team for help.
