How do I install my Fido Home Phone device?


Fido Wireless Home Phone Device

A Quick Start Guide is included with the device and provides an overview of the product installation and features.

Some helpful hints:

  • We highly recommend installing near a window to ensure the strongest possible signal to maximize voice quality.
  • You may need to relocate the device to another part of the home with a stronger signal if either the signal strength indicator does not display high signal strength (green) or the voice quality is unacceptable.

Will the Fido Home Phone device work in areas with no or low signal strength?

No. The home phone does require a strong signal for the service to work. We recommend you put your device close to a window to ensure the best possible voice quality.

How to use Voice Messaging for Fido Home Phone

Voicemail for Fido Home Phone

This feature allows a person who calls you to record a message when you’re unavailable to answer.

How much it costs?

Things to Know

  • Ring time before Voice Messaging answers is between 20 and 25 seconds (4 to 5 rings). This can’t be changed.

First time set-up

On your phone, press and hold the "1" key for a few seconds.

The first time you access your Voice Messaging service you'll be prompted to create:

  • Your own personal access code
  • A personal greeting and a recording of your name.

Listening to your voice messages

Title
  • On your phone, press and hold the “1” key for a few seconds.
  • You'll then be prompted to enter your access code.
  • Follow the instructions.

Listening to your voice messages from a different phone

  • Call your Fido number and press # during the greeting.
  • Then enter your access code, followed by the # key.
  • Follow the instructions.

Shortcuts you can use to manage your messages during or after message playback

Shortcuts during playback:

1 = Go back eight seconds
2 = Pause/Continue
3 = Go forward eight seconds
11 = Return to the beginning of the message
33 = Go to the end of the message
77 = Quick erase

Shortcuts after playback:

5 = Caller's number / Time and date of call
7 = Erase message
9 = Save message

Storage rules for Voice Messaging for Fido Home Phone

Skipping the greeting when leaving a message for another Fido number

  • Simply press "*" when you hear the person’s greeting, then record your message after the beep.

Leaving a message for Fido customers without calling them

  1. Access your voicemail.
  2. Enter your access code, then press #.
  3. Select option 2 to send.
  4. Enter the 10-digit phone number of the Fido customer you’re calling, then press #.
  5. At the tone, record your message, then press #.
  6. Choose to send your message immediately, or select a specific day and time.

Using our Self-serve menu

  • Alternatively, you can use our self-serve menu by dialling6-1-1 from your Fido Home Phone or by dialling1-888-481-3436 from any other phone:
    • Press "1" to use the self-serve menu.
    • Press "3" to access the services menu.
    • Press "2" to change your Voice Messaging access code.
    • Follow the instructions to create a new Voice Messaging access code.

Can I get Call Display on this device?

The Home Phone service only supports calling number identification. However, contact names stored on your home phone equipment may display for incoming calls.

My reception isn’t very strong. What can I do to improve it?

The home phone device provides the best voice quality when installed near a window or outside wall. You may need to relocate the device to another part of the home with a stronger signal if either the signal strength indicator on the device does not display high signal strength (green) or the voice quality is not optimal.

Can I Make and Receive Collect Calls on Fido Home Phone?

Collect Calls can be placed with Fido Home Phone but you won’t be able to accept a Collect Call. You’ll be charged normal air time and the person you’re calling is the one that will pay the Collect Call rates.

Can long distance calling cards be used with Wireless Home Phone?

Wireless Home Phone is not compatible with long distance calling cards. However, we do offer competitive North America, Europe and Asia rates through our Wireless Home Phone Long Distance plans.
