Fido teams up with Flipswap
Flipswap is a leading provider of an incentivized device trade-in and recycling program, that determines the value for devices based on four evaluation questions:
- Does the phone power on?
- Is anything broken, cracked or missing?
- Is the phone water damaged?
- Does the LCD work and display correctly?
Device trade-in credits are applied against the new Fido phone that customers are purchasing when:
- They activate their Fido monthly or prepaid service, or
- As actual Fido customers, they renew their Fido service.
Flipswap will Plant a Tree on your behalf
For phones that have depreciated over time and have no trade-in value, Flipswap will plant a tree on your behalf when you donate your used device. Trees are planted by award-winning agroforestry organizations in twelve tropical countries fighting deforestation and poverty.

How do I earn FidoDOLLARS?
Earn FidoDOLLARS whenever you use your phone. Based on your usage, 5% of your eligible service charges will be accumulated in FidoDOLLARS.
The following services allow you to earn FidoDOLLARS:

All other fees, including administration, interest and resumption fees, taxes, phone purchases, SIM cards and accessories do not allow you to earn FidoDOLLARS. Each of your FidoDOLLARS corresponds to one (1) dollar applicable to the regular price in effect at the time of FidoDOLLARS redemption, including applicable taxes, except for taxes applicable to option services which cannot be paid using FidoDOLLARS.

What if you don’t have enough FidoDOLLARS for a reward?
For phone purchases
You can use any part of your available FidoDOLLARS to buy a new phone. If you don’t have enough FidoDOLLARS to pay the entire price of the phone you wish to purchase:
+ If you are subscribing to a monthly plan with an invoice, the remaining amount will appear on your next monthly bill.
+ If you are subscribing to prepaid service, you must pay the remaining balance prior to the delivery of your new phone.
For prepaid airtime
You must have enough FidoDOLLARS to pay the full cost of the prepaid airtime amount you wish to add to your account.
To pay for the first month or two of an Add-on (available to all monthly plan subscribers with invoice)
You must have enough FidoDOLLARS to pay for the first month or two of the Add-on you are subscribing to.
How are my FidoDOLLARS applied to my bill?
If you redeem your FidoDOLLARS to purchase a phone for less or a monthly Add-on, you will see the calculation of the FidoDOLLARS used on the next bill generated after the purchase.
Things to know:
+ FidoDOLLARS are not taxable.
+ FidoDOLLARS are applied on the total amount of the bill, including taxes, for handset and prepaid airtime, but applied only on the amount before taxes for Add-ons.
+ FidoDOLLARS used will appear under the Other Charges and Credits Section of the bill.
Here is a sample calculation of FidoDOLLARS used to purchase a phone. In this example, the customer has 150 FidoDOLLARS in his account:

Note: You can redeem FidoDOLLARS for one or two months depending on the Add-on you subscribed to. After this period, the usual monthly Add-on fee will be charged on your monthly invoice. You can call our customer service anytime to deactivate the Add-on.

What happens to your FidoDOLLARS if you leave Fido?
Unfortunately, you lose any FidoDOLLARS in your account when you cancel your service. FidoDOLLARS cannot be used to pay your final invoice.

FidoDOLLARS are applied as a form of payment, after taxes, on the purchase of regularly priced phones, $20 Fido prepaid airtime, and some Fido services. Participants accumulate FidoDOLLARS based on eligible fees and charges incurred and paid by participants for the use of Fido Service, before applicable taxes, and after all credits are deducted. Fees such as administration fees, interest, resumption fees, taxes, cost of phones, accessories, and smart cards are inadmissible for earning FidoDOLLARS. A $25 Hardware Upgrade Administration Fee applies. See the Fido Rewards Program Terms and Conditions for all the details and for a complete list of eligible fees and charges. FidoDOLLARS cannot be exchanged for cash. FidoDOLLARS cannot be returned or credited back to the account. Your account must be in good standing.

What you should know
Before you start referring your friends, make sure of the following:
- You must have been an active customer for a minimum of 15 days and you must use a different referral code per referred friend.
- You must get a referral code before your friend activates a Fido number.
- Your friend must provide the referral code to the representative before the line activation process starts.
- Both of you must keep your services active for a minimal period of 90 days, at which time the credit will be applied to both accounts.
- You cannot refer yourself. If you have multiple lines on the same account, the name of the user must be different.
See full details To be eligible for the program, the referrer must have been a Fido subscriber for at least 15 days. Referrer must register the new customer before the new customer subscribes to Fido service. Credit will be applied to the referrer’s account as well as to the new customer’s account after the new customer has been a Fido customer for 90 days. To be eligible for the credit, the referrer must keep their service activated during this 90-day period. If the referrer or the new customer uses Fido Prepaid Service, the credit will be deposited in airtime. Limit of 5 referrals per month. Certain types of accounts are excluded from the program.
