How long will the appointment take?
An average internet installation takes about 30 minutes. This gives the technician enough time to check the signal levels both inside and outside the home, install the modem, and give you a rundown on how it all works. We like to get it right the first time, so if the technician notices anything out of the ordinary, (like old cable line or splitters from the 1970s!) they'll replace it. This would add a bit of time to the appointment.
Do I have to do anything to prepare for the installation of my internet service?
If you have a rough idea of where you would like your modem located, it's ideal to keep that area free of clutter for a speedier install. If you're renting your home, please have a letter of permission from your landlord, stating it's ok for us to install internet service.
What can I expect during installation of my internet service?
Depending on the nature of the installation, our techs may require access to a number of different rooms and the basement within the home. They carry a number of tools, and depending on the work involved may have to drill holes, fish wire, and turn on and off breakers if safety requires it. We try to be as neat as possible during any internal construction. Outside your home you may notice the technician visit the customer service enclosure (the little grey box) at the side of your home, the local pedestal (a tall green box, usually located near the grassy boulevard connected to the street), or climb up a ladder in your yard depending on the location of the cable services.
Our technicians will clean up any mess made during installation, fully demonstrate the set-up and operation of your new product and answer any questions you have.
