First time set-up

Press and hold the 1 key on your phone for a few seconds to access your Voice Messaging service.

The first time you access your Voice Messaging service you'll be prompted to create:

  • Your own personal access code (4 to 5 digits)
  • A personal greeting and a recording of your name (voice signature).

Note: During first time set-up you can press the (*) key to skip the recording of a personal greeting and voice signature and keep the default system greeting.

Resetting or changing your Voice Messaging access code

Reset your Voice Messaging access code by logging into My Account

Using our self-serve menu

  1. Dial 6-1-1 from your Fido phone or by 1-888-482-3436
  2. Press 1 to access the self-serve menu
  3. Then 3 to access the services menu.
  4. Press 2, then follow the instructions to change your Voice Messaging access code.

Listening to your voice messages

From your Fido phone:

  1. Press and hold the 1 key on your phone for a few seconds to access your Voice Messaging service.
  2. Enter your access code when prompted.
  3. Follow the instructions to listen to your messages.

From any other phone:

  1. Call your own Fido phone number.
  2. Press the # key during your greeting message.
  3. Enter your access code when prompted.
  4. Follow the instructions to listen to your messages.

Important: 

Airtime is charged to listen to your voice messages. Long distance and/or roaming charges may also apply when you are outside your local calling area. Ensure you have enough funds in your prepaid balance to cover the charges to retrieve your voice messages. For more details on applicable charges see the section below titled Using your Voice Messaging in Canada and while travelling.

Storage rules and functionality

Storage rules
Length of message 3 minutes each
New message  5 days from the day you received the message
Note: After this period, it will automatically be deleted.
Saved message 5 days from the day you first saved the message
Note: After this period, it cannot be saved again.

Managing your greeting

To modify your personal greeting message:

 

  1. Press and hold the 1 key on your phone for a few seconds to access your Voice Messaging service.
  2. Enter your access code when prompted.
  3. Press the 3 key to access the customization menu.
  4. Press the 1 key to access the Voice Messaging customization menu.
  5. Press the 3 key again to access the greeting customization menu.
  6. Follow the instructions to delete your current greeting and/or record a new one.

Managing your messages

During Playback

Use these key codes to manage voice messages during playback

1 Go back 8 seconds
11 Go to beginning of message
2 Pause message/ Continue playback
3 Go forward 8 seconds
33 Go to end of message
5 Get message header (time, date and caller's number - if available)
77 Delete message immediately without hearing the full message
# Skip to next message (message is saved automatically)
* End playback and return to main menu

After Playback

Use these key codes to manage a voice message after playback.

Managing your Voice Messaging service

You can:

 

  • Modify your access code
  • Modify your Voice Signature (recording of your name)
  • Erase and record again
  • Save the current voice signature
  • Modify your Greeting Message
  • Record new greeting
  • Erase current greeting
  • Save greeting

Setting the Voicemail Retrieval Number (VMR)

If you have a non-Fido phone or if your Voice Messaging settings have been deleted, simply program the following number into the settings of your device in order to retrieve your voice messages:

Note: There are no long distance charges for calling this number on the Fido network while you are in your Local Calling Area (LCA), even if the number is from a different province.

On an Android: (instructions may vary based on the Operating System version)

  1. Go to Settings > Call Settings > Voicemail Settings > Voicemail Number
  2. Enter the VMR Number (+1-416-821-6549)
  3. Save the settings

For all other phones:

 

  • The VMR Number (+1-416-821-6549) can be programmed either in the voicemail settings or as a quick-dial or contact.
  • For further assistance with an unlocked or non-Fido phone, please consult the manufacturer of your device.
