I can't send text messages (to a Canadian number)

Go through the following steps if you can't send a text message from Fido to Fido or another Canadian provider.
Send yourself a text message (SMS).
Make sure that you are entering the 10-digit phone number including area code. If you're not sure how to send a text message, watch our how-to video to learn how to send a text message.

Is it working?
If yes, go to 2
If no, go to 3.

If yes, you're done!
If no, you might want to tell the person you are trying to reach that he will have to contact his service provider. Since you are able to send a text message (SMS) to yourself, the problem does not result from your Fido service.
Try sending your text message again.
Make sure that you are entering the 10-digit phone number of the person you are trying to reach (including the area code).

You need a signal strong enough to send text messages (SMS).
Your phone must display at least 1 signal bar and you must be able to place a call to 611.
Is the signal strong enough?
If yes, go to 4.
If no, try to find a better signal zone in order for your phone to display 1 signal bar or more.

Verify the SMS Centre number.
Make sure that the text message (SMS Centre) number is entered correctly in your phone settings, including the + sign (see manufacturer’s user guide to find the phone setting menu of your phone).
The text message (SMS Centre) number should be: + 1 514 993-1123.
If it is not accurate in your phone setting menu, change it. Turn your phone off and then back on.
Note: Certain phone models do not have the capacity of text message (SMS Centre) number modification.
Is the SMS Centre number accurate?
If yes, go to 5.
If no (and you can't change the number), go to 6.

Is it working?
If yes, you're done!
If no, note word for word the error message (if applicable) and note the date and time the problem occurred. Go to 6.
Try sending your text message again.

Communicate with Fido via :
     Email
     Phone: 1-888-481-FIDO or 611 from your Fido.
