Video Calling

Make kissy-faces or show off your new do... it’s a great way to stay close.

Only available within the 3G high-speed zone and requires a 3G high-speed Fido phone.

How it works

How to make a video call:
  • Dial the wireless phone number and press the dedicated video call button to initiate a video call.
  • Your internal camera (the camera that faces you) automatically turns on and displays your image on the screen.
  • You can adjust the lighting conditions or switch between the internal camera (faces you) or external camera (faces away from you) so the person you’re calling can see what you see.
How to receive a video call:
  • You’ll receive a message on your Fido 3G phone screen indicating you have a video call (e.g., Video Call from “Name” (if available) or “Number”).
  • If you accept the video call, you’ll automatically see the caller. If you want to show yourself to the caller, press the “Show Me” soft key or the Webcam button.
  • Each person will see a full screen video of the person they’re talking to with a smaller overlaid frame of their own video image.
  • If you do NOT accept the video call, the person calling will receive a message on their phone screen (e.g., Cannot make a video call) and be given the option to make a voice call to you.

How much it costs

It's 25¢ per minute, billed by the second. Airtime charges apply for each participant. Long-distance charges are not included and may apply.

WhoCalled™ — $3 per month - NOW IMPROVED

WhoCalled is a service that sends you a text message with a list of phone numbers that have attempted to call you when your Fido was turned off.

If you turn your Fido off during meetings, flights or class, take the subway, use parking garages or elevators where you get no signal or if your friends and family don't like to leave voicemail messages you are missing calls!

New Improvements to WhoCalled Service:

1. Over notification

The number of notifications that you receive will be reduced by notifying you only in the event that no other notification is provided (missed call log or new voicemail message indicator).

In most instances, that means, only if you turn your Fido off or are out of coverage.

2. More user-friendly WhoCalled message

In the past, some phones attached the phone number to the date and presented it as one long line in the WhoCalled message

This has been corrected and you will now see the phone number line as:

01:416444-5555 @ 9:21 AM 2009/11/11

We have also improved the line telling you how many calls you have missed.

3. Message Content / Easy Call Back

You are able to easily click on the phone number (or use your phone’s menu/option key) to return a call directly from the WhoCalled message.

The message you will now receive will read as below

Message Header:
+8888
Nov 12, 2009 9:21

Message Content:
WhoCalled Now Improved
(01) Call(s) missed
01:416444-5555 @ 9:21 AM 2009/11/11
Select number to call back

Make sure you always know WhoCalled!

SAVE up to 44% on WhoCalled and other options with a Value Pack and get your first month FREE.
