Video Calling

Video Calling allows you to make face-to-face calls. To use Video Calling you need a Fido 3G high-speed compatible phone and you must be in a 3G high-speed zone. If you are using an iPhone and wants details regarding video calling, learn more about FaceTime.

Things to Know

  • During a Video Call, each person sees a video of the person they’re talking to, along with a smaller overlaid frame of their own video image. You can hide or show the image at any time.
  • The caller will not be able to leave a voice message on your voicemail if you don’t accept the call. The person calling you will see a message saying "Video call cannot be set up" on their screen, and be prompted to make a regular voice call instead.
  • Call Forwarding will work but only if you have the Call Forwarding option. If you forward your calls to a mobile phone or landline that doesn’t have the Video Calling service, those calling you will see a message saying "Video call cannot be set up" on their screen, prompting them to make a regular voice call instead.
  • Call Waiting and Call Hold functions won’t work while on a video call. All incoming calls will be redirected to Voice Messaging if applicable.
  • Name and Call Display and WhoCalledTM will still work the same way as when you make a regular voice call.
  • Placing an international call is not available.
  • This service works between Rogers and Fido customers only.

How to use Video Calling

To place a video call
  • Dial the number and press the Video Call button.
  • When your phone dials, the internal camera (facing the person you’re calling) automatically turns on and shows the image on your phone’s screen.
To receive a Video Call
  • When the call comes in, you’ll receive a message on your phone’s screen indicating that you have an incoming video call. If you accept, you’ll automatically see the caller on your phone’s screen.
  • If you refuse the Video Call, the caller will receive a message on their phone screen (e.g. Cannot make a video call) and be offered to modify the Video Call into a vocal call.
